My poor sick hen. What am I missing here?

I would agree that she is having some reproductive problems. Sometimes it may be not enough calcium to form hard shells, or infection in the oviduct, or she could have gotten exposed to infectious bronchitis at some time in her life. IB can cause shell gland problems, and hens can lay wrinkled shells, thin shells, or other problems. In cases like these where an egg has broken inside, some would use an antibiotic to treat any infection. Baytril, which is banned for chickens in the US, is sometimes used by vets. It is controversial to use Baytril, because of antibiotic resistance, but it treats many bacteria such as E.coli, mycoplasma, and others that may be common in reproductive problems. Amoxicillin is another one that is sometimes used, but it is not as effective on E.coli. If you can take her to a vet, that would be great. Here is a link for baytril (enrofloxacin) and dosage is 0.25 ml daily for a 5 pound hen for 5 days.

Thanks all! I should have mentioned that the flock has free access to oyster shell and I mix some in with their whole grain layer feed. I tried giving her yogurt mixed with meal worms and black sesame seeds yesterday, but she wanted none of it. She did eat a bite or two of scrambled egg today, so there's that. I'll add ACV to her water now.

I can't decide if I should put her back in the coop with her buddies for the night or bring her inside in the box she's been hanging out in today.

Fingers crossed of all the interventions I've tried one will pay off!

I bought probiotics in a powder pack from Tractor Supply to put in water. 1 pac to 1 gallon of water. Im going to try apple cider vinegar in my chicken water. I put it in my goaties water and drink more water now.

Hi all! I'm happy to report that Angelica made it through and is now a happy, healthy egg layer again! I don't know what the original problem (probably the rubber egg idea) was, but man was she miserable! She didn't move or eat for months and didn't even get up on the roost at night. Her comb was all grayed out and I pretty much expected to find her dead every morning. But she bounced back!! Just thought a little good news might brighten your days. Thanks for your help!
