He appears to be one that can be worked with.

Try catching him and have your son hold him for a little while, maybe try this every day for a couple of weeks. It might make alot of difference.

You think roos might attack kids cause they're 'dog' sized?

Our silkie roo has never attacked any of us in the family. But he bristled up at a neighbor's kid, who is considerably shorter than my kids. He didn't try to flog her, but was definitely trying to intimidate her (didn't work, the kid was clueless and not paying attention). She was helping us herd the peeps back to their palace after free-play.

My kids chase the hens to pet them and the roo leaves them alone. But both my girls are as tall as I am (5'6", even my 11-year old).

Rooster red - Sounds like a good idea. Does it count if he's on the roost and we take him down for Jake to hold him? Or should we catch him during the day? I've held him alot of times, but 90% of the time it's when I get him off the roost, because he is calm then.

My RIR roo has been popped on the head with a plastic shovel so much he knows better than to attack a blonde headed female but you let a male come around that he does not know and then it is "game on". The neighborhood brats stay away when we arn't around because they are afraid of our roos.
