My Poor Sweet Lexie!

I keep saying she needs a sweater, poor baby! She was wearing a saddle that I added a padding of super fleece to, but it was making the feathers coming in on her wing tops break and bleed, so I had to remove it. Lexie is the mother of my young baby rooster Gabriel and thndrdncer's BR pullet, Lily. I can't wait to see her looking the way she used to look, my sweet little chicken-girl.
I've been feeding her hardboiled eggs by herself so she could get more protein and warm oatmeal and yogurt, just anything to help her stay warm and grow those feathers back. And you're right, she'll get to stay inside tomorrow night, too, at least!

Nope, I'm not one to put a diaper on a chicken! But, I can't lose Lexie just because of this dang extended molt. Here is a picture of her in better days:

Poor chickie! I know how you feel. I have one who went through a late molt and layed up until 2 days ago. What's with these girls and their late molts! I put a chicken saddle on my girl and keep throwing extra protien snacks her way hoping that will help hurry those feathers up. Hugs for Lexie! I'm glad you were able to bring her in for a bit.
