I curious, with your children, all of your livestock, yoghurt making, Just what is your daily routine like? Between my kids, house, church, work, chores, I rarely have time to ride my horses. The house is never as clean as I would like & there is always something needing fixing.
steff - shavings are kept super deep. The chickens do an awesome job of keeping them stirred up. I give them a rake or a turn with the pitchfork occassinally. Other than that we only have to clean out the barn about once a year. Everything is kept super extra dry.
The house is never as clean as I would like & there is always something needing fixing.
The same here!!
Let's see here -
3:30 - DH leaves for work
4 - 5am - Usually up - Spend time checking email, reading BYC, having coffee, planning the day - sort of - a mental list of what needs to be done and what I want to do.
5 am - 6:30 - Load/unload DW, laundry - whatever quiet work I can do that won't wake the kids - sometimes more BYC time or sewing or crochet etc projects or soap making. While the world is still quiet!!!
6:30 - 7:45 - get DD up and off to school, bus stop, oldest DD off to morning classes etc.
7:45 - open the barn, let out chickens, turkeys etc. quick check on everyone in the barnyard.
8am - Noon - finish up chores, some don't always get done, vaccuum, beds, etc. Start long term cooking items for supper. Midday meal for my 2 yr old. Usually pack a dinner for my DD who works in the hospital ER. Pop in BYC, etc.
Noon - 1 - clean up kitchen again, get DS ready for a nap and DD off to work.
1 - 4 - On a good day DS naps. On a bad day we spend it whining and looking for things to be entertained with - either outside or a movie or trucks and tractors on the floor etc etc, Knock out a few chores - filling feeders and waters etc.
4 - 7 depends on what day it is - pickup DD from tutoring, run afternoon errands - pick up fresh milk, trip to the grocery, always evening chores. By 7 the barn is shut in tight and everyone has something to eat before nightfall. The goats get a small portion of grain. they are not milking right now and have plenty of space to browse. The sheep have grass pasture and are hands off growing right now. Alot of the animals just need supervision and a quick check.
7pm usually supper. DH comes home. He spends time with the kids, we eat, talk, watch TV.
8:30 Dh is off to bed, 2 yr old soon follows.
9pm DD is off to bed and I soon follow after a quick check of BYC.
Cold or rainy days are spent in doors - there is always chores to do but some days I don't do more than the dishes, if i want to sew I do, If I want to crochet I do. As long as the house is tidy, the animals are fed and meals are on the table for DH I pretty much do whatever I want to do. some days we need to cut grass, some days we need to clean off the porch, somedays we have to go get feed. It just depends on the day and the need.
I don't have a strict schedule. Like I said if something strikes my interest something else might have to wait until I get to it. Lots of projects all the time!
