My Prefab Coop and city hens this winter

I only have 4, 3 lay and I wonder if the 4th will lay ;)

I just like how it is thinner and taller then the other one. ANDDDD someday I will get more ;)

One of your Hens looks like the Golden laced Polish I had years ago, great bird.

Do you have anything to put over the top of the Run area? Netting so nothing gets In (or out, I have one that likes to get over the fence)

Came today, Love it !
Excuse the mess behind the Kitchen. I can only do one room at a time :lau
And NO, I am NOT eating the Hot Buffalo Bugels :pop I'm saving them to eat with a movie ;)

The lady is got these girls from said my EE with the top hat was half Houdan, but she DOES look like a golden laced polish, doesn’t she? She is the only one not laying yet, and I’m wondering if her eggs will be brown, white, or green. :)

I use garden netting over the top of their run area and it works great! I actually measured it out and stapled it to the back fence so I can just unroll it over the whole space. Keeps them from trying to escape, and keeps wild birds from going in!

I have a question about this. I have heard that if you don't refrigerate your eggs that they won't go bad....is this true? should I still rinse them first?

Eggs come out of the chicken with a protective coating that keeps the egg safe. As long as you don't wash the egg (and therefore remove the coating), you do not need to refrigerate them. Eggs at the grocery store have their protective coating removed during the cleaning process with bleach.

We leave our eggs sit on the counter for up to 4 weeks and have never had an issue!
