My pullet being weird

I feel like I’m posting a lot but this is too funny not to share.
I just got a new pullet for my solitary pullet the day before yesterday. I put them together yesterday morning and my older pullet accepted the new pullet well, with just a little pecking to assert dominance. They spent the night together and today as well, and tonight when I went to lock them up they were snuggling together. As soon as I flashed the light in the coop the older pullet started pecking at the younger one. I’ve noticed this is a trend, they are good when they are by themselves but as soon as I come around the older pullet starts pecking. I don’t know why she does this but I think it’s kind of funny.
(don’t worry, she’s a cross beak and can’t do much damage by pecking)
So glad you rescued your girl and now got a friend for her! I wonder if she is used to just seeing you when she is by herself so when you show up, she gets weirded out by the presence of another chicken? Maybe just an association/routine thing that will go away with time. Happy for you and your girls!

That’s a good thought. She was by herself for about 3 months so it could very well be that. I do think she missed the company of her own kind though by how fast she accepted this new one. But the routine makes sense, we have a routine that was almost always the same, so the presence of a new chicken could make her feel weird, that makes sense!

Here are some pics of WA!

WA is Beautiful! I especially like the first pic. Lake Tahoe is georgous. Definitely one of my favorite vacation spots. I love photography too, but unfortunately my pics don’t turn out to great because all I have is my old iPhone.
