Well, maybe if your roo starts to take note that there is competition in the neigborhood, he will start behaving as a gentleman should. My oldest roo was being a total pig with food and just not doing his duties, that is until I put a younger cockerel in with him and his girls, then he started to act like a man should.

This morning the boyfriend came over. DD reports that he tried to mate with Felicity but Jack (our roo) chased him off. Just as well, it's still pretty early in their relationship. Hopefully she's saving herself til it's just the right time.

DD reports that he was very polite and gentle when she was feeding them stale bagels. So far he's been on his best behavior with the in-laws.

Here are some pics of their date in the trees in our woods. Any guesses on his breed? I was thinking he's a red sex link maybe?

I'm not expert enough to guess about his breed, but I did have some roosters and hens that seemed to form bonded pairs when I was growing up.

I think she is just a big tease - will whip him up into a frenzy and then break his heart. She just wants the excitement of the secret trysts. Who can blame her? Life in the coop gets boring fast.

OMG, that's hilarious!

So question, is she a white leghorn? How do you know she is a she? I have leghorns and can't figure it out, but her top red thingy is straight up and I thought leghorn girls' were supposed to be flopped over

Anyway, I think it's totally cool that she knows who and what she likes and that he's such a gentleman, that's a lost art these days!! jennifer
