My purchased on a Whim chicks - curious which breed

So in being super clear....

EE is a mixed breed bird that lays colored eggs with the possibility of blue, green, olive, brown or white(ish).

Several listed as "OliveEggers", Prairie Bluebell, Starlight Green Layers are pretty common to find in the feed stores. Hoovers has claimed the names Starlight Green Layer and Prairie Bluebell. There may be more they " own" the name for.
Meyers has their own "special" names for their own mixes.

I am sure there are others out there.

The hatcheries are pretty hush hush about exactly what is in their special mixes.

Personally I like the distinction of the "owned" names since they are a specific mix bred to have specific traits.

Maybe we can agree they are technically EE's but in a little different class....maybe a branch or sub set of the birds with beards.

I am not trying to start an argument, so please do not believe that, but I personally think that this statement is wrong. At least the second part. An Easter Egger is a mixed breed bird, but the first mixed breed birds coined "Easter Eggers" had Ameraucana in their lineage (even if it is far away) and laid blue or green/olive eggs. The second part is the reason for the name Easter Egger-their blue and green eggs resembled eggs dyed for Easter. As far as I am aware, I have never seen anyone dye their Easter eggs brown or white (white would be especially weird). And I am not a person that agrees with changing the meaning of a title, as it only gets confusing. So in my opinion, based upon history, mixed breed birds can only be considered "Easter Eggers" when they have Ameraucana in their lineage and when they carry the blue or green egg gene.
