I noticed my Mini Rex doe pulling fur and nest building two days ago. I kept an eye on her and sure enough she kindled last night. One very large kit. I am over the moon that she finally produced after three tries but wonder how normal it is to only have one baby?
This is her third kindling, one was six kits and one was four.
Looks like it will be a broken black and white

Not so abnormal .. especially if it's her first .. and she's small.

Congrats .. It should be a fat little booger!

How old is the doe? I have a 4 year old japanese harlequin rex that consistanly gives me single kits, but here's the kicker, all of hers are does!

It really depends on what you're breeding for as to whether it is ok or not. If you're breeding for show or pets, singles are fine, they just cut down on the profit. If you're raising for meat (and with mini-rexes I doubt it) having a single kits is an extreme no-no.

Anyway, enjoy your fat little popple!

PS - Where are the photos?!
