They are fun birds, friendly and coturnix like (they are coturnix afterall).

Tony KT, how do yours do in a colony? Do you keep them in trios? I started with 20 males and 15 females and the males would fight and females were bald. I was told by an ornithologist to pair them like in the wild and the fertility rises and health of birds. What are your thoughts?

I had 2 trios and fertility was very bad.I lost 2 hens and had 2 pairs left, fertility did go up a little bit.Birdboy has 1 pair of 2 that I had, since he picked them up,the male has been doing his business very well.I haven't had the bator on for over 2 months,so I haven't hatched any.I sent JJ some eggs a few weeks ago,but the post office held it's anuall rugby tournement and lots of broken eggs.I didn't wrap them as good as usual, thought they would be fine, but I was wrong. From now on I will wrap them like I usaully do.

So,
Are these basically ornamental?
Does anyone eat the eggs? I would imagine they would be pretty small.

I'm so tempted!

but not sure where I would put them.

The eggs are surprisingly as big as bobwhites. They could be eaten if you wish. They are more of an ornamental bird.
