My really ugly coop(pic heavy)

Honey, that AIN'T ugly!!!!!

If you think the outside needs a little work to make your mom happy, maybe get some edging to cover the bottom sill of the caged in area, it stands out due to the solid line of it I think. I saw some on 'end of season' sale at K-mart, if you don't want to spend money, I'd lay some stones against it to at least break up the edge. The paint looks nice, but does she want it to stand out less? Maybe if you let her pick out the color? (again, I think it looks fine, but hey, you're trying to get her co-operation.)

Inside, I STRONGLY suggest you work hard at finding a guard for that lightbulb and getting it fastened differently to the beam above. Chickens do some crazy things and I can foresee someone either knocking it down, breaking it in place, or just getting hurt. It's a fire hazard at worst, a risk of them finding broken glass to eat on a lesser but still bad scale.

All the chickens care about is protection, fresh food/water, and clean bedding. Add the chicken wire and you're 3 for 3! It's cute.

your coop looks great! ugly is my coop...it used to be an out house!!! still has the cement toilet inside. that sucker is just too heavy duty to even crack. love how you have a covered run that you can lock them in and not be leaving them just inside the coop area
