Hello,
I just recently rescued a young adult Bielefelder (8 months old) from my friends farm. He had 15 chickens that died. He kept buying chickens from the different breeders and all the flocks are all mixed up. So two of his three Bielefelders died from the disease. He was left with Just one. He gave all his flocks the corid powder mix in their drinking water. It seemed to solve the issue. So I took the Bielefelder to add to my two current ones. The difference are night and day. Mine look very healthy compared to the one I just rescued. I noticed that she kept sneezing but I didn't hear any wheezing sound from her beak. so I mixed the chord with the drinking water and she's been eating and drinking healthy. I kept her quarantine for a little over 2 weeks now. The sneezing seems to go away but it's still there. I bought vet RX and put some of that on her nostrils, under her wings, on her feet, and around her neck and buttocks. Just did this today. The corid stuff was and still on it for 2 weeks.

My friend told me that the chicken was not sneezing at his farm so it could be something that's inside my garage but I still don't feel comfortable introducing her to my two current hens. What I noticed about her comb is very pale. It's not bright red at all. Please advise on what I should do. She's been quarantined for over two weeks now. As I mentioned before, she's been eating and drinking healthy and her feces look healthy. Thank you and sorry for the long post.

Corid is for treatment of coccidiosis, an intestional infection, not for respiratory infection. It can be risky to bring another chicken into your flock especially if they have lost birds. Sneezing can be a sign of a respiratory disease, although some birds can sneeze occasionally from feeding or dust in the coop. Personally, I would return the bird and not add it to my flock.

Respiratory diseases are frequently for life, making the survivors carriers forever. They include MG, coryza, ILT, infectios bronchitis (IB.) IB can make them carriers for up to a year. Do you see any bubbles or foam in an eye, any facial or eye swelling, clear discharge from the nostrils, gasping, or crackles/wheezes during breathing?

Hi thanks for responding. I do not see any of those symptoms. I don't hear any wheezing either. I gave her vet RX. It smells like vapor rub. From what I've read, they said put it on the nostrils around the neck and under the wings. So let's see how it turns out.
