Hello,
My dove is 3 years old male. He is usually a bit heavy and round around the breast. However, today he feels very light. I weighed him and he's about 109 grams. He definitely lost weight and I noticed that he is not eating, but is activie and cooing.
I'd like to add that he got a new mate 5 months ago. Who happen to be male too and sometimes the jostle each other a bit. I usually let them out to fly, but recently we had family visiting for 2 weeks and they have been caged since.

Could he be depressed about not being let out? Overwhelmed by his cage mate?
I'm not sure. He's not eating and I worry. That if I don't tube feed him soon he will get worse.
What do you think???
Thank you for reading?

Sorry for your trouble. That is worrisome imo, lack of appetite and weight loss are always a concern. Those symptoms are very general and I'm no expert. I would suggest the Emergency/Disease section is a good place to get more knowledgeable advice. .....

It will help if you can provide more info as described in this link....

...do you know your birds normal weight? Before tube feeding I think a more complete exam is needed. ... to insure there is no obstruction of the crop, or ....??? He is an indoor bird? Could he have swallowed something he shouldn't have?
I hope your bird gets better. :fl

@sourland ? @Wyorp Rock @Eggcessive ??

@casportpony is the tube feeding team captain.

I'm not sure which of these is more relevant to doves.
