So not sure if this behavior can be corrected... I've been a school teacher long enough to see how it should end.
Dorothy is my 1 year old RIR. She was raised until about 6 months of age, with a Roo, who we had to re-home. You all helped me ID him as a him. We traded for Lucy.(same age but half Dorothy's size)
We have lately witnessed Dorothy mounting Lucy ,pecking her on the back of the head. Lucy is near bald and terrified. This not only happens when treats are being handed out, but during the day time when they are out in the back yard.
I recently added a new gal, my thinking that this would some how shift things. Introductions were made, Dorothy went after newbie, Maizey. She didn't back down. Dorothy then went after Lucy, who also didn't back down. I thought yay...I'm brilliant all is well. Kid bullies are really no different than chicken bullies, they just need to be stood up too. That was short lived. Things are now back to our previous bullying situation.
I've been a chicken-mom for over a decade and have never seen this with any of my other gals. Any advice , tips or tricks?
