My Roo has his timing all wrong!!!

We had an EE rooster who went off every 15 minutes beginning at about 3am and continued until sundown. We did get re-home him for exactly that reason.

Our Big Blue, a Splash roo, is thankfully a bit more logical about the whole thing. He crows about 15 minutes before dawn, a few times after that and otherwise shuts up until there's an issue - predator, mealtimes or just Mom (me). I try to think of it as the "Here Comes the Queen" instead of "oh, sh*t, there's that LADY, again!"

Now, that said. Once Big Blue goes off, Napoleon (Frizz Silkie) cockerel decides he must chime in. Then Rodrigo, our Bantam Cochin cockerel, tries his best to compete, but he's still pretty pitiful. Sounds like the unholy mixture of a hideously squeaky porch door and a phlegm-infested old Jewish man.

Thankfully, my neighbors swear they can't hear any of it since I keep the chickens locked up until after they've gone to work at 7am. *grin* Me, my bedroom is 5 feet from the bantam coop and another 7 feet or so to the big chicken coop. I hear it all, but thankfully I've learned to sleep through it!

Jezzz every 15 minuets? My roos don't crow all that much, but right now i have like 5 of them. I had to pick from a sright run cuz tsc was out of the pulets. (baddd day) but i did get all speckled sussex and they are amazing birds. Each are so funny, my fav roos have to be Griffin and Bane. BUt even with 5 of them they dont crow to much. Only in the mroning and then when ever they see me.

Our bantam Cochin's crow is pretty awful too! Maybe it's something about the breed. I love your description, though: yeah, that about covers the range of noises Beau makes, but your phrasing is wonderful.

.....but I know hes young they crow all the time when their young when their older they slow the crowing down a bit

My Roos Oliver and Zues usually start crowing between 6 and 630am until I let them out to run the yard in the morning then again around 5 in the evening . And then again the next morning. UNLESS one of the silkie Roos crow or they see the back room light come on. But before I thinned out the roos I had gobs of them (didn't have the heart to cull) they crowed every hour on the hour 24/7 not one,! but many at one time Whew that was insane ! but in general and with just the two outside, I love to go and sit out back in the swing and have my coffee and listen to them.To me its very soothing. LOL

i have 3 roos - and they always crow when they see me outside - even if i am no where near their yard - they also crow at my vehicle - ii think they are just saying hi... and i am lucky that they all have distinctive crows - so i know who is crowing and can say hi back - with the right name... f

we do have roosters in my neighbor hood that start everyone going sometimes but mostly it seems to be when they just feel like it lol

try saying hi back - maybe he will feel acknowledged and shut up (sometimes works) no guarantee
