My Roo Roo is holding his eye shut--UPDATED with PICS

What do I do? It is a windy day...could he have gotten something in it? Pecked? Leave it alone for a little while and see what happens? He is holding it shut but will open it from time to time...it doesn't look traumatized or anything...any suggestions? Thank so much...they'd be most appreciated!

all the above could have happened. If I was you I'd catch him and have a look at it close up, you might be able to gently wash it with warm water or saline wash, at least this way you'll have a better idea what may have happened.. also look closely around his eye just in case he might have gotten pecked and it's not necessarily the eye itself..

I'd grab him and have a good look at his eye. When my roosters were fighting I thought that one had pecked at the other's eye but it was actually dried shut with blood, so it could be just about anything. If you can get a look you can probably get an idea of what's wrong with it.

thanks everyone...i guess i should more background too...he's our only Roo and right now he's with 3 girls (we have 4 girls but ones seperated with babies now

) and he's easy to handle so I did look at his eye real good and couldn't really see anything wrong? No blood or anything? He's outside in the coop but I have noticed he tries to stay behind something like he's blocking the wind from it

It may just be a scratch. That should be better in a couple of days. If its not better by then, its probably something else. I'd just watch him for now...

if you have some neosporin w/o pain killer you could put some around the outside of his and also directly inside.
