My rooster has no nails...

This was a rough winter and I had three of my birds separated from the big flock because my two roosters do not get along. My rooster Olli and two other hens stayed in a smaller coop and I'm afraid Olli got frostbit on his comb and possibly his toes as well. The places where his comb were frostbit were black and have fallen off and he just has two points on top where he once has 5 but his comb now looks healthy. His toes however, how have NO nails at all. They are literally stumps, not red, more white in color, but look a little worse for wear...He did have black smaller scabs at the end which have now fallen off which have now left these stumps. You can see one of the scabs at the end of one of his toes. This pic is from about a month ago. He seems to walk fine, even runs...but his feet looks bizarre. I don't see any signs of mites, so I don't think that's it. Could this just be frostbite? He's had a rough time. Last year the hens kept at him and pecked his feet til they were bloody. I would separate him, clean him up, even bandage him until he

healed...then reintroduce him and bam, right away they would peck him and open up his feet again. It was horrible. He started the winter healed because I had separated him from the hens that kept pecking him. I'm still puzzled because the other two hens he spend the winter with have no signs of frostbite at all, on their combs or on their feet, or have any of the same symptoms he has. They faired just fine. Any ideas?

The missing toes is from frostbite. I've a few like that too. Roosters need extra wide roosts to cover their toes properly, but even than some still have problems. I don't know what the red scaly stuff is. Hopefully someone else does. Poor guy.
