Treat his injury by cleaning flushing the bloodied area with a saline solution, or just clean with a mild soap and water. Dab it dry with some gauze, and then spritz it with some Vetericyn spay, three times a day, or you can apply a little Neosporin ointment for a couple of days, or till it scabs. He'll recover if you keep it clean and dry. Also be careful of flies, fly strike can happen if wounds get infected or are not kept clean.

Making saline solution :

• Get a clean storage container and mixing utensil. Either wash them in the dishwasher or boil them for 5 minutes.
  
• Use 1 quart (4 cups) of distilled water, or boil 1 quart of tap water for 5 minutes. Cool completely (Do not use well water or sea water.)
  
• Add 2 teaspoons of table salt.
  
• Mix the water and salt well until the salt is completely dissolved.

Saline solution can be stored at room temperature in a tightly covered glass or plastic bottle. You can keep it for up to one week. Always label it and include the date.

Use for flushing eyes, wounds or the cloaca/rectum, after egg removal, also inhibits fungal growth.

An unfortunate yes to this. Get some Blukote and give it some time or consider finding a little dude whose a better fit with your type of girls!?

I'm really sorry, it's hard to watch one go through their paces but part of the deal, I'm afraid! A few months into my first flock my Buff Orp came out for breakfast with no tail feathers and a chunk of surface feathers (No blood) missing from her wing. It was my Alpha hen establishing her spot. The more I tried to "correct" the behavior, the worse it got

Sound advice from @Hen Pen Jem! Separation from the rest of the flock is best coarse of action along with the polish hen. I love Polish but have refrained from getting any for this reason. I have a mixed flock, and I have friends who have mixed crested birds with the rest of their flock and it didnt work out so well.

I third this idea! Keep them separate especially while he's healing! I'd love some Bantams but until they can have their own safe place I refrain because my big girls would eat them for breakfast!

ok i just put the cockerel back in the pen with the polish pullet, they should be ok together, right? i mean Thelma wont peck at Lou's head will she? (it was supposed to be thelma and louise but louise turned out to be a Lou lol and that name just suits him so well! should i take a warm wash cloth and wipe his head or should i put something on it? he looks so pitiful, i know that had to hurt and from the looks of it, it went on for a while. i see them pacing wanting out of the pen and one of the rir's is pacing on the outside like she wants to get in, maybe to get to Lou? Its weird how they can be together since they were a day old then just turn on one another like that!

This is exactly what happened to my white crested blue cockerel and my white/brown crested red polish. Polish just don’t do well with other different breeds unless there is Quite a lot Of them. I separated them and polish don’t peck each other at least mine don’t. And when I wanted him back in the flock to hangout I put some “peck-no-more” stuff on his head. You can get it at your local farm store.

She will if it's red or bleeding You'll need to get something on there while it heals. Chickens peck at red out of instinct. Pine tar or Blukote work well and will help healing!

Just follow what @Hen Pen Jem posted about cleaning and treating the wound and you will be fine and so will Lou. And yes that RIR is wanting at Lou

You should not put a small chicken in with bigger chickens....just like the rule about putting chicks in with older birds.
