My Rooster is getting mean. It may be time for him to be stew.

I'm really thinking that showing that i'm the alpha is going to work. Right before I posted my first question I had been out in the run. The rooster came after me and I tried to pick him up and he scared me. The nice rooster was inside so I closed the door. I chased that mean rooster all over the run clapping my hands at him and he didn't like that at all. I really didn't know how he would be the next time I went out. I came inside and called my neice to come over tomorrow to help me butcher it. Then I posted my question. Since then I took a flyswatter out there and he didn't come near me so he may be already getting the idea i'm not going to back down. I will bring the flyswatter with me when I go out next time, just in case. But I was amazed at the change in his behavior after chasing him around. I'm soo glad because I was pretty shook up about the way he was acting.

When my roo started trying to out rank me he learned a thing or two. Number one being, I don't run away -- I run at. I'll chase him till he's running like a girl. So to speak.

I also walk straight toward him when he's between me and where I want to go. I'm trying to teach my daughter to do the same, but she's usually too busy panicking to "fight" back. He really doesn't like to see her out in the yard, but he knows I'll be running for him he tries something stupid.

I have a problem with my roo. The first time he attacked i put him in his place by stomping my feet at him ( like he does the hens) and giving him a swift smack in the butt. That was three months ago. Havent had a problem till this past weekened. I came into the pen to give some goodies and he repeatedly attacked about five times . He just kept coming as i pushed him back finally i had to kick him ( not hard enough to hurt him) to get him to stop. As i went out the pen he jumped at the chicken wire at me. So now i have to go in with a rake. I would hate to put him in the frying pan cause i got him for breading but i have no choice if he dont stop. I know roosters are naturally aggresive but he is getting rediculous any sudgestions please
