This morning when I went out to the coop I saw my 1 yr old light Brahma rooster in the nesting boxes. I was very shocked and confused by what I saw. As soon as he saw me he immediately got out, but when I looked he was sitting on 3 eggs and they were pretty warm. That afternoon I saw him sitting in the boxes again and I took a picture (Sorry for the bad quality). Does anyone know why?

Example of my Dominique rooster showing the hens where to lay (despite the fact that there are already 3 or 4 eggs in the nesting box).

Sometimes, one of my other roosters will show a spot other than the nesting boxes in an attempt to change things up a bit. The hens usually ignore such endeavors and continue to lay where they are supposed to (though sometimes, when I find a clutch of eggs out in the garden, I wonder if it's because of the roosters).

First day of my first flock of adult birds, the rooster was in the nest.
Good thing I left a double sized nest or he wouldn't have fit.
He sat in there chatting way for about 30 minutes.
Later that day there was an egg in that nest.
I came to BYC and found out what the deal was.

I'm impressed if that's true, cause really, what do most men know beyond their part of the baby-making process?
Well, it's a bird not a man ;)

Mine is a BIG boy. YUP nothing funnier than watching a GIANT breed, 6 year old rooster, proudly showing the 25 week old pullets real estate. One of these days he's going to get stuck in one of those nest boxes. He doesn't exactly make them look roomy or comfortable.
I can just imagine that! What breed is he?
