About 6 weeks ago a friend of mine gave me a rooster who was ousted by his flock and he hasn't crowed since. I figured it was because his ego was shot from getting beat out of the flock, but he hasn't crowed here either, then I noticed that he streches his neck out and opens his mouth, then shakes his head. He is also very lethargic and he is also losing weight. Could it possibly be gapeworm? I'm open to suggestions!

He sounds either sick or stressed. Is he molting at all? What is he eating? Is he being kept with other birds?

I hear gapeworm is relatively rare, but you could treat him just to be careful.

Do you have another rooster that may be bullying him here as well? Or just a tough hen that may be doing so? It may take him a while to get over the stress of moving to a new place.

Yes, I do have one other rooster, he is a mini rooster, but the mini one harasses the big one because the big one won't fight back, he just runs off. After he runs off, Big Bird, the big rooster, goes and lays down typically so, that kinda makes me think he's sick, or maybe he's just still stressed I guess:)
