My rooster keeps attacking us! HELP!

I have actually tried that too.. While I was watering yesterday he came at me.. so i sprayed him.. he ran away .. then when i turned my back.. he was back again.

I had the same problem, not anymore. I gave to rooster to a guy who let's his chickens free range. Otherwise he would have been dinner! He wouldn't stop attacking me no matter what I tried and he was 10lbs, not worth the chance, I couldn't even enjoy going into the run anymore and didn't like having to watch my back the whole time.

I let mine free range... so I dont know how much longer i want to keep an eye over my shoulder to make sure he isnt there...

I don't advise the "gentle boot". DH tried that and got his pants leg grabbed. The rooster held a grudge for quite a while towards my husband. If you must nudge the rooster, use a long stick or broom to push him aside so any resentment is directed towards something that isn't part of your body.

Until you are comfortable with picking up your rooster, you can use the stick/broom to hold out in front of you to claim more "personal space" and never turn your back on him. The best time to start holding him is when he's gone to roost.

If you've tried and nothing works, "invite him to dinner".....

I had a nice rooster for 4 years that was always happy to see us. Then I moved here and got a rooster, I spoiled him, held him, petted him, gave him treats. My DH fed him one morning and he attacked my DH. My DH told me, and I told him I didn't believe him. A few months later, I asked the boy next door if he wanted a rooster. His dad said yes. A few weeks later, I changed my mind, and I told the dad that I don't know if I can give them the rooster because he attacked my friend's son (not true, I just wanted to keep the bird.) Instead of saying okay, the neighbor dad said he'll bring his son over and see how they get along. Nothing happens.
A week later I hand him the rooster. I kneeled down to get the rooster with a piece of bread and he attacked me. But Mr. neighbor dad took him.
Last week, I see the neighbor come out to feed the rooster, and I backed my chair into the corner so he couldn't see me (long story), and I hear all this yelling and screaming, I peeked out, and the rooster had attacked him!

i got rid of one like that who was a freeranger. i was so glad when i did. i could go back to reading a book in the backyard and just hanging out and not looking over my shoulder. also went through the whole dominant, soft boot, hard boot, water spray, rock, stick, etc. thing. finally changed his name to stewart stewpot.

Yes, i too have been through this with a little silky roo, He was so pretty, i purchased him just at adolescence, then when he started doing the "wild thing" with his girls, he really changed, especially when they had chicks.
We dont have a huge coop so they all freerange too. He attacked anyone who came visiting, My poor mum who is frail, my son, my dh and me.
So i was just about to give him the chop when he bloodied my ankle.
I decided to advertise him on a free ad site and he found a lovely new home where the owner said" oh I dont go in and play with them " when I warned her he may attack! so I found peace again.
Now I need a new rooster to pull the girls back into line.
Good luck, yes try and rehome him, he will get worse when chicks arrive no doubt.
Otherwise wait till he really attacks and causes pain to you and while your adrenalin is going through the roof, grab the axe.
