My Rooster SAT on My Hen

Iv'e seen this shortly before a pullet lays. It isn't exactly mating it is more of a full body flop. I don't know the reason behind it, maybe a way of getting her use to the idea of him being on her or it is just a comfort/safety thing.
It never looks uncomfortable, iv'e seen some head preening and comb mouthing heard some nice purring sounds.

That is exactly what happened I am so glad you came to this thread!!!! She didn't mind at all she was just laying there minding her own business while he was on top of her and he is probably 2x to 3x her weight!!! I was so confused thank you!!!!

Lol, no problem. The last time I saw it myself my really big rooster flopped on my smallest hen. She practically dissapeared!
If I hadn't seen it before, i'd have been worried too.

All I could see was a little of her back and her face and she is a black australorp!!!! SO she is big!! It was kind of funny!

He's a Faverolles, a fat Faverolles.

How many chickens do you have? And what breeds I like knowing what breeds are good and which breeds aren't.

I've got 11, ten girls and him. As for breeds 4 Faverolle hens "1 is bantam", 2 Dominiques, 1 Speckled Sussex, 1 Buff Brahma, 1 Amerucana and 1 Delaware.
The only one I wouldn't steer anyone towards who wants a peaceful flock is the Delaware. She lays big eggs, 80 grams and up but she is mean and bossy. She is almost as big as the rooster too so that isn't good.
