My little rooster (no name yet) who is about 10 weeks old was sitting on top of the eggs in the nesting box yesterday all fluffed out. He is 1/2 Japanese Bantam and 1/2 Modern Game Bantam. I am certain he is a rooster he has a nice big red comb and wattles but he has never crowed, could he be an over developed girl or was this just one of those crazy chicken moments?

It may be a baby thing. I have 2 9 week old roos that were sitting on the same nest, the only one with eggs, the other day. I figured it was youthful insecurity.

Could he be hiding from another rooster or hen that picking on him? If you take him out of the box will he get right back in it?

Post pic and we can tell wether or not it is a hen or a rooster.

No, he is pretty well liked. I have never seen anyone bother him. I will get a photo but when you see it you will say, ROOSTER.

I love it! He has not been on the nest since and I would not have thought anything of it if he had just been sitting in the box but he was desperate to cover those eggs with his tiny body. It was really cute.
