What on earth does a ten year old rooster even look like?

If I dare tell my husband your rooster's age, he's going to absolutely flip his lid. He's already having a hard time dealing with the fact that the chihuahuas could live to be twenty.

They look same as a 5 year old one.
They don't get gray hair (Feathers)

Wow, that’s awesome. I hope my chickens can live long, happy, healthy lives. Lost one young in only my second year of chicken keeping, so I’m a bit paranoid! Researching often to give them their best chance.

Long life is also dependent on breed. Heritage breeds tend to live long.
Short lived chickens would be your common sex-links. They are EGG MACHINES and do burn out. My Red Sexlink I do not expect to have for much more than 5. She is a rescue.. I only keep chickens as pets. My oldest was a Silver Sebright. She pulled 13 years.

Thanks sourland and Talithahorse...probably is arthritis and his old age, I just hate seeing him showing it, he has been such a gentleman and so attentive to his flock all these years!! I named him Jean Claude but call him RoosTah' as he answers to.

That is great the RoosTah has had such a long happy life and that he continues to take care of his girls. Heres to many more years of happy living for him.
