My Roosters Hate My Red Coat

My biggest, friendliest roo HATES my sons big black muck boots! He is just fine when he is out in any other foot wear but those black boots.

My son told me about this and I didn't believe him because this roo is so sweet. So I told him to walk down the deck steps, he did and the roo raised his hackles at him and made a leap at him. So I had him take them off and go down there, he was fine. So we repeated this again and we got the same thing! So, now my son knows not to go out in his big black boots!

My other roo hates anyone who doesn't have 2 legs and feathers.

I'm new here, but don't chickens go a bit crazy when they see blood and peck at injured flock mates? And I've read that smaller combs and wattles are desirable for cockfighting (HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE practice) because large combs and wattles are an easy target and injuries to combs and wattles result in excessive blood loss. It makes sense to me that roosters might become aggressive when exposed to excessive amounts of red.

This is so interesting to me! My rooster went crazy today when I was wearing bright red socks around him that I never had before. Does anyone know whether roosters have a similar negative reaction to fur?
