My Roosters Just Fought I Need Help?????

I need some advice. I have 2 roosters and they just got in a fight. I have the one that is the most injured in the house. His waddles and comb have some blood. The other rooster has a drop or 2 of blood on the tip of his comb. They are both LFs but one is still alot bigger. All my chickens are free-range. The big rooster is Eddy and the slightly smaller one is Oreo. Should I keep the seperate? Will the 2 fight if I put them out? Will they work things out? Do you think the fight is over? Oreos comb and waddles are already blood. What should I do????

Clean the blood off of the roosters and cover with neosporin cream. They will work it out who is the top rooster.

They have wrked out who is top rooster before. They have been together for months. I will clean his waddles and comb right now I will put the cream on him too! I may put him out with the rest of the flock tonight.

Sometimes the second roo will start trying to push the top roo and gets put back in his place. As long as there are no major injuries, I would let them work it out.

Oreo is back with Eddy. They seem to be doing fine togeather. Eddy was putting him back in his place and Oreo seemed to except it. I have my windo open so I can listen for sqauking.

I just went through this a few weeks ago. Mine went at it like crazy. Both of them were pretty bloody but a comb bleeds a lot. After a few rounds, they were fine. The hardest thing was keeping my dog from breaking them up!!! He thinks it's his job to keep the peace. Also, how many hens do you have? I have had more than one rooster the whole time I've had chickens (about 5 years) and as long as I have at least 8-10 hens per rooster, things were good.

I only have 9 grown hens. But I have 10 chicks but not all the chicks are hens. I think 1 - 2 of the chicks are roosters. I know I dont have enough girls some day I might have to get some spent hens. Each rooster only gets 4 - 5 hens. My girls are even getting over mated with.

Spent hens may not help. If a hen isn't laying a rooster doesn't waste his time with her. You can see the lack of mating when they go into molt. Of course rescued battery hens aren't usually truly spent. Just a point to consider when you do look for more hens.
