My Rouen Drake....Green feathers are turning brown???!!! WHY?

I am curious what vitamin/minerals he is not getting enough of or....reason WHY his ALL GREEN feathers on his head are turning a brown color?????????

He eats the normal food the other ducks get....AAA DUTY....and SINCE he is in with our goats, he also eats corn and alfalfa???? (cause the goats eat it, and he now thinks he's a goat.....he sleeps with the goats, heards with the goats.......etc)

He acts normal, but I find it odd to see his pretty green feathers fading!!!!!!!!! i want to know what to give him to boost the colors back! help!!!!

prob. because mating season is about over. when spring comes he will molt again and you will get his shinny green feathers back
i forget what this is called but happens to most drakes

It is called eclipse plumage. It is perfectly normal. His nuptial plumage will come back again.

Thanks for posting this, you saved me from having too. I just got 3 Rouens from a friend and they were hatched out at the same time. The two males were both green headed and now only one is green and the other brown. You can see a faint green in patches but very little. Was really starting to wonder.

I was a little disturbed when my guy, Puddles, started loosing his "greenies" about 2-3 months ago. Now, he looks very similar to his female counterpart, Olivia. I have a hard time telling them apart from a distance.
