I have trained my Great Pyrenees, Dorrie, to bring the chickens back to the coop when it is time to secure them for the night. She walks slowly with her head down, ranges out into the yard to find the chicken furthest from the coop, and then gently herds them back to the gate in the pen. If they go to the wrong side of the pen, I tell her to "bring them around", and she will walk them all the way around the pen to the gate.
