My runners are growing up!! -pic heavy-

Hi~~ I am thinking about getting some runner ducks. I have been doing some resding. what is your set up for them ? Do you have a small tub for them to splash when they want / need to ? what type of feed do you start them off on ? I was planning on getting chicks with them. From Ideal or Agway, but chick order & ducks are not coming in at the same time.
Also can they go up low steps ? I have a small coop for babies & I have some low wood blocks as a step up.
Your babies are so cute

Thank you.
Linda

Your pics are great! Our ducks are almost exactly the same age--I got mine on the morning of the 5th. I don't have runners, but I have Cayuga, Pekin, Welsh Harlequin and Black Swedish ducklings!

Thanks everyone!!

They're in a 10x10 dog kennel (like this: http://cdnmedia.endeavorsuite.com/i...f-4dec-967e-c08ac5c544d3/10X10 DOG KENNEL.jpg) that I have covered with a sort of sun shade tarp. They share the space with 7 chicks that are a few weeks older than them (although still smaller than the ducks!).
They started out in the bottom of an XL Pet Taxi crate (a bit like this: https://www.google.com/search?q=xl+...ets-accessories%2Fcrate%3FCatId%3D115;200;170) under a heat lamp, and then after a few weeks (don't remember exactly how long- just when they started getting ridiculously messy) went outside and into a large dog crate
(like so: http://www.forhappydogs.com/images/...ate_icrate_dog_crate_kennel_cage_i_crates.jpg) for another week or so- still under a light at night.
Yes- I have a little black tub that I dump out and clean everything other day or so -it gets super gross and smelly pretty fast (http://www.noblemro.com/media/catal...f78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/2/6/263011.jpg). I've fed them and the chicks Nature Wise chick starter from day one. Haven't had any problems regarding niacin deficiencies or anything of that sort. I got these four from Metzer hatchery and am quite pleased with their quality, but of course Metzer doesn't sell chicks.
I don't think that they should have a problem going up small steps :) My best advice is to be prepared that although they are much cuter than chicks, they are also MUCH messier!

I hope I answered all of your questions and apologies that the links are so long!

Super cute! Do you know their sexes?

Super cute! Do you know their sexes?

Supposedly all females (I ordered females specifically from the breeder), however I suspect at least one of them is a male for various reasons, but maybe I'm just crazy.
