My sad, simple coop...but I'm proud

You all are the BEST! I could barely wait to see what you all thought, and its such a relief to hear that while you agree its no Taj Mahal, its also not a total failure! I also very much appreciated the tips and comments, which really were very helpful! BTW....for those who didn't see my post in the predator section, this morning I was BLOWN AWAY when I oppened my back door, noticed my birds were all puffed up and hissing, then discovered not one but TWO red tailed hawks on top of and on the ground beside of my pen....so yes, I am going to be taking all of your advice and beef it up.

BTW...while I doubt it was needed (and because I didn't know any better) those 4 x 4 corner posts are18 inches longer than they appear to be......I took post hole diggers and dug a 18-20 inch post hole and burried all 4 courner posts in the ground that much. No concrete, just back filled with dirt. Whether it was needed or not, it definately made the whole structure a lot more stable....and with my (lack of) skills, anything that added stability was a good thing!

Yes, i could pretty easily leave one side of that plastic "FUTURE" COOP OPEN....IN FACT, IT IS THAT WAY NOW. Thats because I had to take the doors off in transit. I really planned to leave that whole side open and connect it to the pen via the open end. Speaking of which, I'm still not clear on how to attach the plastic building to the pen.

looks good to me

Cut a suitable hole in the pen side. Drill holes around the open side of the coop. Wire through the holes in the coop and through the wire of the pen around the opening. Cut it right and you can have the pen mesh overlapping inside or outside of the coop opening. If you cut the pen opening as a door, you can hinge it back and then close it again any time that you want to remove the coop.

Remember to paint an image of a displaying turkey in pastel colours and hang it on the pen. Also, put a turkey weather vane on top of the coop.

Who cares what it looks like, chickens are not picky where they are residing in!

Give yourself a pat on the back for efforts...you deserved an A PLUS for that!

I think it looks fine you can always change things as you go thats what I am doing, being new to raising chickens there are alot of things we have changed from original and things we are planning to change in the future. My moto is work with what you have pic of ours

Hey it looks good to me! If your turkeys don't complain:rolleyes:
When my husband & I were building one of our barns, we had a HUGE winter storm coming our way and Two expecting mares, and assorted others, we built what would work with what we had. He told the horses loud and clear, the first one of them that got a level out to check was going on down the road. Now the same goes for my chickens.
We have a family of hawks here, one went through the netting I had for a top and got one of mine. Now I have chicken wire, hardware cloth and tarps.
