just wondering if I am insane? I currently have a 11x7 coop with 2 outside runs totaling 380 sg ft. I have 6 BR, 4 BO, 2 polish( 1 of which is a rooster), 1 silkie, and 1 japanese rooster. I just answered a ad for 20 or so free BR laying hens. Is this to much?

Well if its free you doing good. I would get it. Hey I have over 60 chickens and I only have 8 people living in my house.

You have lots of space in your runs, will you split the coop in two? Might be crowded for the new 20- remember about quarantine to protect your flock.

Did they say why they were giving the birds away for free? I mean, I've just finished reading some horror stories here about conditions some backyard "breeders" kept their birds in.

It would be terrible if you got saddled with diseased or neglected, unhealthy birds.
