We built our coop out of completely free materials and pallets. I love it.

Welcome to BYC! That's great. I did the same thing when I lived on the big island of Hawaii (I didn't use pallets, but everything I used to build it was free recycled material). Do you have a picture of your coop. Here is a picture of mine (it is a multisectional coop).

Yep that looks like it would hold some chickens alright .....

That is the best way to build a coop and there is no reason to waste money if you can make one work from perversely used material sitting around ........

But yeah, recycling should be done every time it's possible. Good for the environment, and good for your wallet.

Using recycled materials is great for the planet and the wallet! The chickens don't know the difference. As long as it is predator proof, you will have happy chickens!
