Hey!
Excited to have another broody hen this season! I had my first ever hatch under a silkie last month, and she produced 4 live chicks for me (LO). It was an amazing experience as an incubator only experienced chicken keeper, so I was extremely happy to see one of my Bovan Black hens had gone broody.
Funny enough, when I went to collect some eggs from the Lavender Orpington pen, I also have a lady in there guarding eggs! Holy smokes! I'm sure if I'll let that hen sit or not, I currently have an incubator full and my Black hen sitting on 6 right now. I had filled the bator with Bovan Black x Lavender Orpington eggs to product next season's layers since my girls are all getting older and I don't want to end up with not enough eggs!
Here is miss moody this morning. I will update as we go!

). Luckily we were able to put her eggs under our OE. While those two were broody our Barred Rock went broody and hatched one egg. In the midst of all of that my black silkie went broody and was INCREDIBLY determined. At the time there were no roosters in her coop so we just slid some eggs under her from the other coops.
