Thought I would share this with all of you. A year ago this May I got a cat from a shelter. Huge-20lbs, the most lovable monster I have ever had. I guess his owner had two cats and was moving and could not take them with her. They were not close so did not matter if they went together or not and I was not even looking for a cat but there was something about him. I took him home. The shelter told me he was an inside cat but was not declawed. I told them I had a small farm and all my cats were in and out. After he got used to the house I started bringing him out back to the barn and you could tell he was in awe. He was even amazed at bugs. It was sad in a way but I knew he was going to have a new lease on life and he is just such a wonderful cat, very dog-like.
I could go on forever about him but to make a long story short this morning went I went out to feed everyone and what did I find but a dead baby possum in the grass near the chicken coops! He LOVES the chickens and hangs out with them all day. It is so funny to watch, he lays in the grass and they are all around him. I know this cat think he dies and went to cat heaven.
But what has amazed me is that he has learned to protect his flock....lol My other two old cats slept in last night so I know it was him.
My shelter cat is the best.

Sounds like a great cat! I'm glad he's working so well and that he's enjoying life in the bargain.

He reminds me of a cat we used to have in that you said he was huge and dog-like. This cat was a stray that showed up, but our best guess was the he had a good bit of Maine coon in him.

If I was picking a cat, I'd like to have one like that again.

The day will come when I will learn how to post pictures. Daughter was around this weekend and I asked her to show me,,,ok,,we are all set to go,,,she can't find the cord. Still can't find the cord. I am getting the feeling it is never going to happen. The camera is old and my daughter said it does not work well all the time but it is going to have to do. I am trying!
Anywayyyyyy, Beau (he came with his name) Is black & white with green eyes. He is beautiful and I can't wait to post his picture, he is such a sweet man. I call him the man of the house because the only other males on the property are horses and one big rooster and one bantie rooster that sounds like a mouse trying to scream and they of course live outside.

Hope you get your camera working, but that comparison just made me LOL! I haven't decided what my bantie roos sound like, but a mouse trying to scream might not be too far off. (Good thing since they start at 4 am now ... but not loud enough to bother anyone I think)
