I can't even count the times I've bawled my fool head off over my birds, let alone cats and dogs. They're all beings with personalities and feelings so of course they're like the family pets around here. At least with me, DH not so much but he loves them.

That's a pretty cool vet you have there. Did he say how long before we may see an improvement?

Silkies easily have brain injury. Also, silkies do not handle heat well. I had a Polish roo who walked backwards for over a month. I fed him with a spoon and then set him in front of the water. I had to teach him how to eat all over again using mush so far. It took a few months. He did get better, then he got worse, and died. That;s my experience. My first death. Our favorite roo. Brother of the one in my avatar.

This sounds like Wry Neck to me. This is my vets treatment for it which I have on my website.

Ok so in breeding vaulted silkies you will most likely have an issue with wry neck. This is the treatment I use and has worked for me.

I give predizone 5mg either a half of the pill or a whole depending on age and size. I also give an antibotic called enroflaxine (.01 ml per lb) in liquid form or baytril in pill form, as well as vit E and B12. I do all meds 2 times a day. You will have to slowly wean off the vits and the pred though. And follow that with probios to get the good bacteria back in. Depending on the severity of the injury it could take days, weeks or mths to cure the bird but it can be done. I also isolate and provide a mush for food as in most cases they can not lift their head to drink water. At night with small chicks I will roll a wash cloth up and wrap them in it to prop their heads up. I wish everyone the best of luck dealing with wry neck it is so hard to watch them go through it

Not sure exactly what the enroflaxin does but I will tell you without it recovery is questionable.

As for the shot theres not much change. Im honestly supprised he made it though the night. Im going to meet with the vet again on monday (if he makes it that far) to discuss his future. I dont want him to suffer. And I am not good at culling. So that may be the topic of discussion on monday. Keep your fingers crossed guys. We have a long weekend infront of us.

I know I promised a picture of him. I was able to get this one to upload. This is the only picture I have of him. This was taken right as he arrived and before his head injury was apparent. We knew something with him was off but we didnt know what at this point. We just assumed the poor guy was tired from his trip. He just stood there like a statue.
