This is my first post since I just joined. I am really concerned since I noticed that my chicken was not feeling well yesterday. She comes out of the coop and is drinking a little, but tonight she didn't follow the other girls into the coop. I put her in a kennel in the garage and am planning to go to Rural King tomorrow to try to get something to make her feel better. She seems to have a cough and is lethargic. I would be happy for any suggestions or advice.
Thanks.

Aww, I hope she gets feeling better soon! I'm guessing it could be lots of things though. Maybe respiratory since there's a cough? Or maybe a lung parasite? I'm not that great at diagnosing sick ones so maybe someone else on here will have a better suggestion.

you could post on the 'emergencies, disease, injuries, etc." forum - giving all the details you can think of.

! Great to have you with us! I agree with drumstick - hope your hen gets to feeling better!

Thanks for all the nice messages, but I awoke this morning to find that my hen had died. I am glad I put her in her own kennel so she was away from the other chickens. I cleaned the coop this morning and all my other girls seem fine. This is my first chicken to die and I feel like maybe I should have done something more for her. I am thinking of looking into getting some electrolytes for the girl's water. Has anyone else done this?
Thanks

Sorry to hear about your hen.

. Sometimes it just happens. Electrolytes aren't a bad idea. Hang in there!
