Hi fellow chicken lovers!
Being an old lady, this is rather difficult, but seems fun, as well as informative.
I'm an old old chicken lover/ keeper, but always learning.
Right now I need help! My very favorite banty is sick..I think...acting very strange.. She behind walking funny..head to o e side kinda...rather unsteady..over a week ago. Now she is sitting with her head clear back almost on her back. She can get us and run a bit...but she keeps disappearing when I turn my back. I'm kinda sick about it! Guess she will have to be put to sleep...but What is this? And are the others in danger? Please help! I've raised chickens off and on for almost 60 yrs. & never had this awful thing happen!
Thanks so. I have for any help or advise!

Hi there Granny!
Can you get some poultry vitamins and give them to her daily?
It may help...she may have something called wry neck.
Welcome to BYC!
This video may help ya find your way around:

Sounds like wry neck, which is not fatal and may indicate a nutritional deficiency. You can search for "wry neck," bu putting that in the search box. And I would also advise
posting on the "Emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures, thread." Photos would be helpful.

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

I am so sorry about your banty! :hugs Definitely sounds like wry neck to me too. LOTS of vitamins B, E, Selenium. I would start the bird on Poly Vi Sol (without the iron), about a 1/4 ml once a day for several weeks. Add some Selenium to her diet too. I think the dosage is 50mcgs? Definitely stop by our Emergency section for more help with her. I hope she makes a full recovery! :hugs
