My SIL and her 'secret' recipes

This post made me laugh so hard because it reminded me of my in-laws.

I make a potato salad, the way my mom taught me, and the in-laws think it is the most awsome thing ever. My sister-in-law is a little ticked at me because she keeps asking for my recipe so she can make it. The only problem, as I have told her, is that I don't have a recipe. Things are just kind of tossed in a dish and mixed up. I am sure it is never the same amount of anything. I have told her all the things that go into it and told her she is more than welcome to help me make it sometime, but she still seem upset.

Thanks for the laugh and good luck with your own sister-in-law.

It is rude, but shes prolly got some ego issues and needs to puff herrself up a bit. Just make your better food and feed it to her and tell her "Oh I guess I didnt need your recipe after all"

Yes, right in front of SIL

How funny Georgialee!! This so reminds me of my Dear departed MIL! She was full blooded Italian and always held some little thing back from a recipe she was giving me. Then I would be watching her cook and say "Hey, What did you just do to that?" She would just grin and chuckle a bit like Oops..I've been caught!

It makes me smile just thinking about it!! Your MIL and SIL are mother- daughter right? Well I wouldn't get in the middle of that one. Just do right by both and you will be Ok. And make the best Pulled Pork you can come up with!!!!!!YOU GO GIRL!!

I'll be waiting to see how this turns out! Be sure and let us know!!

No, they're not! MIL is her husband's mom (SIL's husband is my DH's brother).

SIL and I have quite a history if you can't tell, lol! I took me 3 years to get preggers with my first and a week after I told everyone she found out that she was due 4 days after me (and her and BIL weren't married either... they were on the brink of breaking up

). I could go on and on...

It is rude....next time she makes it, say "ya it was good, but I've had better" in a casual, passing by sort of manner.

Really, I am not rude like this. I just find it frustrating when people think they walk on water.

No, you aren't rude . . .a friend of mine had an aunt that was a fabulous cook, and she gladly gave out her recipes but left out one key ingredient, so it was never as good as hers . . .that is about as bad as flat refusing to share. . .I hope your pulled pork blows their shorts off!!!!

One time I asked a teacher at school for her recipe for the white cornstarch dough, and that woman refused to give it to me; so I called my other g.f. who had a collection of home craft magazines our of this world. Second one she picked up to look though had this recipe . . .(teacher told me she didn't want a bunch of people making them, because there might be a "competition" started.

) I published it in the PTO cookbook; took care of that lady.
