Ok this is prob a silly question but I am still a newbie....are silkies only a bantam breed or are they also standard?

Only a bantam, although some people are working on breeding them in large fowl size. They are basically being 'bred up'.

Silkies are one of the only 'true' bantams meaning that they evolved that way. They weren't 'miniaturized' through selective breeding.

My silkies all do this too!
And they are the first chicks that I've ever seen do this. My other chicks would play around, but the silkies are crazy. Jumping, flying and flapping. They just seem to be happy!

Thanks,my children really want one but I don't have the room right now to keep a bantam flock and my current flock.

My silly silkie stomps her feet fast before I pick her up. She sees me walking tawards her and she starts to dance, she looks so stupid.

I have a silkie that is about 5 weeks old in with a 4 week old showgirl.
The silkie is twice as big as the showgirl and is much more energetic !

The showgirl just looks at the silkie like she just can't figure out what her problem is.

My showgirl is really mellow so I think it makes the silkie seem more crazy !
