i have two 2 1/2 year old silkies. They are best friends the so everything together always. Where one is so is the other. Together they hatched 3 eggs we borrowed from a friend. They all hatched two of them died a day apart due to accidents. So they had one baby left. I brought both girls in the house in a XL dog kennel, my baby was sad and needed a buddy. My friend brought over two 1 week younger Americanas and they all fell in love. Everything was great for weeks!!! Now my one silkie is acting strange and this behavior is not her at all.
She is super duper friendly loving and is just so sweet. They both are...
But she started making loud noise like she wanted something. I watched her closely and she was going after her babies attacking it, over and over again. Since she has attacked the other two as well. She is in a big box next to the kennel and can’t see each other only hear. I tried today to see if she wanted to be together with her babies and bestie. Well she started making noise and pecking them again. So I took her out and tried to put her bestie in with her and she started pecking her over and over till I finally removed her bestie back in with the babies. Help me what is wrong with my girl??? She has never acted this way ever. The babies are now 8 and 9 weeks old just three of them and they are good babies just kind of do there own things. Please if anyone has any ideas?? I hate separating them so much

Are they confined to too small a space? Maybe they need more room. Chickens can get mean if they don’t have enough space to eat/drink/get away from each other.

Maybe that is why?? I’m afraid to put the two back out in the coop, because the babies can’t go out yet, it is way to darn cold up here for them even with the heat lamp. She is now in a large box by her self and seems to be ok. Just not sure what to do.. she has never acted this way ever, it’s just not her

I think they’re just tight. Maybe an even bigger box? Lots of appliance stores will give you big refrigerator boxes for free and you could attach them and make a big space for them.

Well I might be able to attach the box I have to the crate on the side. Also I’m wondering if she wants more light. Last week I tarpt the sides because I was sick of all the stray over my floor from them kicking it. Maybe she just is getting gloomy?? I will try in the am and see if that helps

I agree that she is probably miserable being in close quarters and sounds like she doesn’t want to mama anymore and maybe getting ready to lay again. I had to bring my Silkies into the garage for a week and a half because of the temperatures and they were not happy and bickering a couple times to the point of my roo stepping in to break it up. I got them back out to there coop/run and all is well now. You didn’t say why are they in the house?

Long story short version if I can make it short!!!
I have two silkies who are super duper sweet always and best friends. Never go anywhere without the other.
I had a friend give me some eggs for my two girls to lay on. And they hatched them so adorable. Well I ended up loading two of the silkies on day 10 and the next one on day 11, stupid freak accidents both. I had three astrolops and they started being super mean to my silkies. So quickly brought the two and the baby inside in XL dog Kennel and a friend of mine had a week younger Americana babies she brought two over and my baby was so happy it was so cute. And both my silkies took the two on as there own. So this is why they are inside. It is so cold here that I don’t think I could put the babies outside until temps go up. I’m on my way to my friends to get another XL dog Kennel and put them next to each other or connect them so she has more room. I just want them to all be together again. It is killing me. They all are looking for her.

I'm having trouble understanding what you are having problems with. From my understanding you have 2 silkie hens, best friends, hatched 3 eggs, you lost 2, gave the hens more chicks, now one hen is attacking the babies at 8-9 weeks?
