I have chickens at 7 months old the silkie layed its first egg. It is the second chicken of mine thatbhas layed an egg yet. My leghorn was first. Still no eggs out of my 2 belgian bearded duccles and my barred rock bantam i just find it surprising!

You're witnessing how much individual chickens can differ from one another. Genetics and breeding play a role in everything, and individuals react to stimuli to different degrees, too (stress, heat, light, etc). This is to say that you shouldn't be surprised when chickens do things differently from one another.

Im also surprised because it is thw smallest silkie we have. Shes so cute. And speaking of genetics shes a little weird she has like 7 toes on each foot. Some toes have 2 claws and one toe is all twisted backwards. I felt bad when i got her as a chick but she is the fastest chicken we have so it obviously doesnt fase her:lau
