so my 22 week old Silkie "Tobi" has just recently started honking every morning at 5am and because I live in a high rise apartment...the sound wakes me up every morning

now i'm not a morning person by any stretch and picking Tobi up for a cuddle only gives a few minutes reprieve from the noise

I know she's lonely because she was raised on her own because she was the only one to hatch from her clutch....but I try my best to give her some attention several times a day and every day

but I really need to find a solution to this noise because my neighbors start putting two and two together.

it might also be possible the noise is a result of moving her back into the kitchen after her 1 month stay in my living room when she was transferred into a bigger cage to give her more room to run around in.

Chickens are naturally noisey animals that like big yards to forage in and they need more mental stimulation than a cage in the house. It doesn't really sound like a chicken is ideal for you, no matter how much you love him, I'm sorry. I'm sure he's very special to you.
They also really need to be kept in atleast 2s, even if only one hatches its important to get them a friend

What do you mean by honking? Are you sure Tobi is a girl?

it's a sound a little bit similar to that on canada geese honking

as for everyone elses question as to why I'd get a chicken in an apartment...it was originally an experiment...I was planning for a pair but given the size Tobi is now...probably for the best

and as for the gender question...I've asked in this site already what gender Tobi is...everyone says pullet so I went with it

small update:
The excessive noise at 5am hasn't stopped so I've been in touch with someone to take him in

also yes...apparently Tobi is male..I found spurs starting to grow on the back of his legs near the feet
