lol, someone passed away and left me a couple of HUGE cages. They are zoo quality chain link, twenty feet long, eight feet high, eight feet wide. There are two of them with a six foot double catch section in between. I put up six by six dog kennels along the side of that. Plus I sectioned off areas and hung flight cages inside the big cages to keep kinds separate. It is kind of like Michael Jackson's house, with rooms leading to rooms and crawl spaces, but I can keep a lot of varieties happy and separate and in the shade... I just wanted to test drive everything I could hatch this spring. There were a lot of kinds I couldn't get started in, but not for lack of trying. I thought of pulling the roos for the summer and just letting all the girls mingle, but it really wouldn't make less work, just disrupt the birds so i will keep them separate. I have a nice, fully covered wire mare motel 24x24 that has a filly in it and I keep thinking if I sent her packing I could have a GREAT place for a big ol' flock of something. I keep her in there to keep me from getting more poultry. Believe me, feeding a filly is way cheaper than all the birds I could have in there!
