My Silkies, What do ya' think?

I think they are very pretty millebantam
Best of luck to your son showing them!

Thanks for all the kind words. My son is pretty excited to see what comes from each new hatch now. He has put in the time and worked really hard taking care of the chickens and building pens with me. He has no desire to waste his spare time with video games while there is work to do out with the livestock. I feel blessed to have such a boy. I will try my best to support him when it comes to getting him to show his chickens.

I think that the whites have come a long way since we got the initial foundation stock. If I get a chance later I'll put up a picture of the white Silkie rooster that sired these pullets. He is non-bearded, hard-feathered, and absolutley awful type-wise. I can't believe that such an ugly rooster can produce such beautiful offspring. I have way better looking roos, but none of them produce the quality that "Frankenstein" does.

They look good!

These birds still have a little more hard feather in the tail than what is preferred. Continue to work on improving tail type.

And this one's wing is really loose, another thing you want to breed away from. Compare it to the wing on the other white in the picture and you'll see what I mean. It kinda hangs down.

Thanks Christopher! I certainly understand that these are far from a finished product, and have a ways yet to go. I'm just pleasantly surprised at the consistency of the offspring and improvements of each new generation. You would have to see what I started with to get the total effect of what is being produced now. At least there is now light at the end of the tunnel, lol.
