We recently got five 6 week old pullets. These are our very first chickens. They all came from the same feed store. A buff oprington, cuckoo maran, welsummer, brahma and an australorp. They have a coop and an enclosed run. They have a roof over their entire set up and shade. The day time temps run in the 90s and night time temps are in 70s.
I noticed that Coco, my maran has been coughing/ sneezing occasionally. It almost sounds like a child sneezing... It has been happening for the past two days. I go out several times during the day to make sure they have clean water and food. I also have an electrolyte solution for them in a separate waterer.

The run has a dust bath and flooring is mulch. The inside of the coop is pine shavings.

Should I be worried or need to treat all 5 of them?

If the sneezing is occasional, then I would just observe for more symptoms.

How much ventilation does your coop have?
Do you notice the sneezing when the chick has been eating/drinking or dust bathing? She may be getting food/water or dust in the nostrils.

They kind of stay under the coop as it is the shadier area during the day. The coop is raised so they have about 3.5 feet area under the coop. Their water and feeder hangs underneath. It is enclosed with hardware cloth. I have noticed it every now and then.

Clove and Tinnie, my australorp and brahma, love to dust bathe. they just get in there and stir up dust. Do you think she might be affected this? They have been dust bathing in the evening which is in the enclosed run.

At night, we put them in the their coop. It has 6 2in holes for cross ventilation.

Can you post some photos of the birds, coop, etc.?

I'm trying to visualize the coop ventilation - you likely need more. Birds need a lot of fresh air coming in.

So today I noticed my other bird, Tinie, my little Brahma, is sneezing now. she is 6 weeks old. And occasionally my welsummer is sneezing. However, Coco is not sneezing anymore. Here some pictures of their coop and run.

I also gave them watermelon today as the temps hit 95 today.

I like the design, but I would add plenty more coop ventilation. See if that makes a difference.
I'm being nosy here, I'm looking at your bedding, what is that? It's interesting.

Okay, thank you. I will try to do that tomorrow. I was thinking about not being overly drafty. Thank you for the article, I am reading it now. :)
They have only been in there for about a week now.
Well, you do want to avoid "direct drafts" but you want ventilation and air flow - the article can explain that much better than I can LOL
