FROM FIELD TRIP!!! No one told the kids they weren't allowed to bring back chicks from the local feed store so several of them bought chicks. This one is a clean legged banty. Any guesses on breed?
Most have minuim number of chicks you had to buy. My question is what was the store thinking, unless the kids figured out that if jimmy got lets say $1.75 from 5 friends and bought six chicks for lets say $11 and little Jimmy convinces the teacher and clerk mommy and daddy was okay with it and then passed out the contraband to his buddies.
They were being sold one by one. I know a lot about the lady in charge of the chicks and the store policy, she probably would have been fired if she had refused to sell to them. She was obviously uncomfortable and seemed very relieved when I told the kids they couldn't take the chicks on the bus. I just happened to be in the same shopping complex they turned the kids loose in and ran into my son just as he was paying for this chick. The store has a no return policy on live animals and it was too late. So I bought two more We all know one chick is way too needy.
I hate chick season, I feel bad for all of the sick ones or the ones people buy because they are cute and have no clue how to take care of them. My son didn't know I went back in and bought the other two chicks and feed and a waterer and a heat lamp, ect. So all day I was reminding him and asking his questions to drill it into him that he didn't think this through. "The chick is crying, it's lonely. You didn't buy him friends." "The chicks are hungry, you didn't buy them food." "They chicks are crying, they are cold" ect. He finally rolled his eyes at me and said, I GET IT MOM. Lol. He's lucky I knew what they needed and bought it when I was still in town.
