My Story, Our experience, join me on my adventure!

Hey all! Sorry I have been MIA recently, I have been very busy! We have a new member of the family!

Last week, Meg was acting very oddly and we thought she had a hormonal problem and were planning to take her to the vets on Tuesday. However, when we came home on Monday, a puppy was in her basket with her! He is jet black which definitely narrows down the father options since she is a blonde dog. We have looked at the calendar and he must have been conceived while we were away on holiday when the neighbours were looking after Meg. Hmmm..

We are thinking of calling him Dexter.

I'm struggling to post photos but they will come soon!

Hello all, little update!

We now think the puppy is a girl and she is very cute! She is teething at the moment.

When I went to shut the coop tonight I saw drops of blood. And as I'm sure every chicken owner knows that is your worst nightmare. I saw it under Monica's perch but not where from. She is very close to starting laying so as I was going to the back of the coop to pick her up and get a better look I was really hoping it wasn't a predator attack or a problem while laying. Luckily, it was just her foot, which is a lot more mendable. One of her large foot feathers must have gotten caught on something and had been pulled out which meant it was bleeding quite profusely.

Babs after her broken toes doesn't like perching all the time and Selma usually joins her in the nesting box to keep her company. But once I picked Monica up to clean her foot (which she was not pleased about, haha, silly girl!) and put her back on the perch. She settled without discomfort and Babs and Selma immediately jumped onto the perch next to her and cuddle her. It really warmed my heart.

On that note when I picked Monica up, I noticed that she's gotten quite heavy and wide and looks really close to laying! I think she'll be quite the fluffy cuddle bug once she's gotten over herself and settles into the routine here and realises that I would never hurt her.

What are you planning on naming the little girl? She's a cutie! I'm glad Monica's injury wasn't serious!
