I don't know what the deal is with this girl, but she is SMALL!! Double doce of Dwarf maybe? She waddles big time too. Here she is with her friends, a Dutch Bantam hen and an OEGB roo.

She puts my Seramas to shame with her small size! All 3 of these came from a feed store and are 4 months old. Loren, my son, calls her "Clown Face".

I hope she lives a while also. I am worried about her trying to lay eggs, if she can at all. I would hate for her to die from getting egg bound. I was hoping she was a he for just that reason, but I think she is a she after all.

I have an itty bitty jap as well. She's 2 years old, lays almost every day, and now she's setting on eggs. (3 banty eggs!) I swear she's smaller than a robin. Give her lots of greens & goodies- she should be fine.

The one pic looks a little like she has splayed leg. Did you hatch her?

She has a serious waddle to her walk, so I am sure she is splay legged. I did not hatch her. She came from the feed store. I usually never buy chicks from a feed store, but my son begged and begged, so I caved.

L&S, our Silkie is smaller than most hens of her breed (about half the size) and has been doing okay for all her life. In fact, she thrives. She's still a fast little thing, because of her size. She hasn't laid a normal egg for as long as I can remember. She either doesn't lay eggs (she's half-broody, never having gone fully broody all her life) or she lays soft-shelled, even shell-less eggs. She does end up eating her own 'eggs' but she hasn't ever broken into anyone else's.

I do worry about her but she hasn't shown any signs of departing from this world yet.

She looks like a sweet little thing. Don't lose hope.
