I am so so sorry Cetawin

It's been unbelievably hot here too. I can only say that I'm glad he wasn't mauled by some predator. He died in all his beauty.

Robin'sBrood I hear you...I will not complain about the cold either...they did so much better in the cold. Heck just moving here they went through two snow storms and a white out and did great. But I have some eggs that went into lockdown tonight and hopefully there is a full brother to my boy in there. We will know in a couple of days now...but I sure do miss him terribly.

I felt the need to share pics of my boy, I am still missing him terribly...this was Thor's way of getting Athena out of his dusthole when she would not take the hint of him nudging her with his foot and head....he flipped her out!

His pose when I was rubbing his back while attending to his comb injury/wound. He would just melt his chest down into the towel and raise his butt like a cat...silly boy

Him establish an understanding of who would rule the roost at an early age...his adversary was Draco, the Cochin/EE who later bit off the blade of his comb in a sneak attack

Him wondering where his scrambled egg breakfast was

Cetawin, as a newbie on the forum as well as in the world of chickens, I have to say your story about the Thor boy went straight to my heart. I've been struggling with the thought of having to find another place for my silver laced wyandotte because after reading so much on here and other places, I'm a little nervous to own a rooster. I'm not even positive "she" IS a roo yet, but I'm already loving this chicken and I can't stand the thought of just saying goodbye if she is. The love you had for your boy though has helped to give me the "courage" if you will, to give me and my SLW a chance to make it work. I'm so sorry you lost your boy. I fell to pieces when my silkie died at just two days. I can't imagine how hard that is to lose a chick you've gotten to know and love. Thank you though for the inspiration you have left with me!

Especially when they are a little man that you have raised yourself. When you know everything that rooster has been through, you gain a greater appreciation for their personalities and occasional quirks. Just seeing them happy with their own little flock of girls is ample reward in itself. To be included in that flock by your roo is truly heaven!

Good luck and let us know how it goes if your little girl should turn out to be a little boy!!

. I am so glad Thor is inspiring you to give your boy (if a boy) a chance. They really are special creatures. I am getting better...I can smile when I look at his pictures now....smile and cry a bit.
